Santa Barbara's Burning

fire started around 6 tonight in montecito. i'm watching the news (keyt) and there's controlled panic in the newscaster's voices. they don't know how many homes have burned. westmont college is burning. and they think it's headed toward the riviera... and mission canyon. holy shit, what a disaster. i'm watching oak trees explode on t.v. right now, and a gas line just exploded. burn victims being air lifted to irvine burn center. a blizzard of embers. unbelievable. now the newcaster is crying. i'm getting sick to my stomach.

OMG that looks terrifying, all those little lights I presume are houses etc - I hope no one has been badly hurt.

i'm 17 miles south of montecito... and the fire headed north (and into the city of santa barbara) so my home is fine. but i am simply heartbroken about this. they say more than 100 homes are destroyed, and the number will probably rise.
